Open during daylight hours we welcome you to come into St John's for a time of quiet away from the bustling area of the harbour. On a busy corner between the water, the carparks and the harbour green St John’s offers a haven for everyone who visits Bridport’s busy, vibrant harbour on the Jurassic Coast. The resort is a great favourite with holidaymakers, many of whom return every year.
There are usually three Sunday morning services each month (Morning Worship or Holy Communion) plus Morning Prayer every Monday and a service of Wholeness and Healing one Saturday each month. During the summer there are Sunday afternoon services outside the church, run by Churches Together in Bridport and District.
The parish outreach activity events are usually based here around the major festivals or holiday season. Offering a large flexible space in this fabulous location we can plan a variety of worship or activity experiences to stimulate conversations about our faith.
Opened in 1939, the church is the youngest in the Parish of Bridport. The rendered stone building is relatively plain inside and out but has a lovely stained-glass window depicting a boat and lighthouse and these words from Psalm 107: “They that go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business in great waters; these men see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.” St John’s supports the Fisherman’s Mission and there is an area in the church dedicated to the fishing community.
