St John's West Bay

St John's Church, Station Road, West Bay, Bridport DT6 4EY, UK

St John’s is in West Bay, Bridport’s busy, vibrant harbour on the Jurassic Coast. The resort is a great favourite with holidaymakers, many of whom return every year.

Opened in 1939, the church is the youngest in the Parish of Bridport. The rendered stone building is relatively plain inside and out but has a lovely stained-glass window depicting a boat and lighthouse and these words from Psalm 107: “They that go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business in great waters; these men see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.” St John’s supports the Fisherman’s Mission and there is an area in the church dedicated to the fishing community.

There are usually three Sunday morning services each month (Morning Worship or Holy Communion) plus Morning Prayer every Monday and a service of Wholeness and Healing one Saturday each month.  During the summer there are Sunday afternoon services outside the church, run by Churches Together in Bridport and District.
